K J Somaiya College

The K J Somaiya College of Engineering (KJSCE), a college associated with the University of Mumbai, was founded in 1983. In 2014, the institution was granted autonomy, and as of 2019, it has been a part of Somaiya Vidyavihar University. It provides 2-year postgraduate programmes, 4-year bachelor’s degree engineering programmes, and Ph.D. research facilities across a range of subjects. KJSCE is located on the upscale campus of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, which spans roughly 65 acres.
Numerous student organisations for technical, cultural, literary, math, coding, entrepreneurship, and social projects are available at K J Somaiya College of Engineering.

It has expanded into a sizable educational complex in just the last 50 years, with 34 institutions serving a variety of academic specialties like the humanities, engineering, education, medicine, management, pure sciences, and mass communication, and boasting more than 39,000 students and 3000+ faculty members on a bustling 50-acre campus!

Late Shri K.J. Somaiya (1902-1999) created the Somaiya Vidyavihar Complex in 1959. In order to pursue his vision of forming young minds via high-quality education, Karamshibhai established the Somaiya Trust in 1953. He was endowed with keen economic acumen, a balanced perspective, and a humanitarian bent of mind. He purchased a sizable parcel of land in Ghatkopar, which was at the time thought to be remote and sparsely populated, for this reason.

On September 9, 1959, Padmabhushan Shri K. J. Somaiya, our founder, established Somaiya Vidyavihar.
In order to create outstanding citizens for India and the rest of the world, he later formed the Girivanvasi Pragati Mandal, the K J Somaiya Medical Trust, the Girivanvasi Education Trust, and related organisations. With over 1500 staff members and more than 39000 students, we have developed into a multidisciplinary educational institution with multiple campuses.
