Today, the Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur is Known as India’s top center for agricultural education and research. It was established in 1893 when a tiny school was established to teach tax officers. The former Government Agriculture College in Kanpur and the U.P. College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry in Mathura were combined to become the CSAUT.

CSAUT current status was acquired through many stages of the evolution of its constituent colleges. There are currently eight colleges within the university, including the College of Agriculture in Kanpur, the College of Forestry in Etawah, the College of Horticulture and Home Science in Kanpur, and the College of Agriculture in Lakheempur. The University serves the agricultural community in Uttar Pradesh’s 29 districts and six divisions.

The Mission of the university is to ensure the education of Uttar Pradesh’s rural residents in many agricultural fields, including rural industry and business and other related topics. Also, advancing the conduct of research in agriculture and related fields of study.
Further, carrying out fieldwork and extension programs.

The release of more than 200 early maturing, high yielding, disease/insect resistant crop varieties/hybrids of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, cotton, and the evolution of agro-techniques suited to varied circumstances have been the university’s noteworthy contributions. The developed technologies have already reached the farms of the farmers, and this has greatly increased agricultural productivity throughout the nation as well as in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

Additionally, sincere efforts have been made to submit Adhoc research projects to various funding organizations.
