Birsa Agricultural University

On June 26th, 1981, Birsa Agricultural University was founded. Its main goal is to create region-specific agricultural, animal husbandry, and forestry technology and manpower for the agricultural growth of Jharkhand’s plateau region and for the economic uplift of the area’s tribal and other lower-class inhabitants. Three faculties—Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, and Forestry—are responsible for the teaching, research, and extension programs. There are eight colleges in these three faculties: Ranchi Agriculture College, College of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Ranchi, College of Forestry, Ranchi, Rabindra Nath Tagore Agriculture College, Deoghar, College of Agriculture, Garhwa, Tilka Manjhi Agriculture College, Godda.

There are also three Zonal Research Stations and farms. These are a university farm, a college of biotechnology, a center for agribusiness management, six directorates, sixteen Krishi Vigyan Kendras, a computer center, a central library, an ATIC, and other infrastructure and service units. Being a wholly residential university, there are just a few dormitories on campus for boys and girls. As well as housing for teachers, scientists, and support staff.

Birsa Agricultural University has Central Library which opened its doors in 1987. There have been sincere attempts made to stock the library with the most recent books, periodicals, and other educational resources. The vast collections of books and journals are being fully utilized by postgraduate students, research scholars, and scientists. Also, they are involved in various CAR/State Govt/Govt. of India research initiatives. The mission of the university library is to advance educational research and extension in various fields. The Library serves the informational needs of students, teachers, scientists, research scholars, and visitors from different areas of the country who are agricultural scientists working in the state of Jharkhand’s educational institutions.
