In 1994, the SVKM’s Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering was founded. It bears the name of industrialist and industry pioneer SVKM’s Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi. He produced Fountain Pens Wilson. It has been given autonomous status beginning with the 2019–20 academic year.
There are 600 students enrolled in the college’s eight Bachelor of Engineering programmes. There is a distinct list for the Gujarati linguistic minority based on a lower merit standard, and admissions are made on a merit basis. The DTE (Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra) handles admissions; this procedure is online.
On the first floor of the college building is the Manubhai P. Knowledge Centre library. Reprography and a Wi-Fi network connection are provided for it. Around 17,000 volumes, 70 printed journals and magazines, and four online databases are available: IEEE, IEL Online, ASME, ACM, and Springer Link.
Many colleges from across Maharashtra participate in and commend DJSCE for its many extracurricular, academic, and technical activities. Since 2014, the DJCSI student chapter of DJSCE has hosted the CodeShastra, a 24-hour hackathon that takes place throughout the state of Maharashtra. The Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering’s student forum, IETE-SF, hosts the most well-known interstate competition, known as DJSPARK. Additionally, the college encourages students to participate in other sports.
The college’s official solar vehicle team is DJS Helios. The group creates all-new solar automobiles from scratch in order to compete in different national-level events. They were named Asian champions in 2018, being the first and only team to win both the Indo-Asian Solar Challenge (IASC) and the Electric Solar Vehicle Championship (ESVC) in the same year.
Trinity is the college’s yearly athletic, technical, and cultural event. Engineering students from Mumbai’s colleges attend this event, which takes place in February or March.
