National Institute of Technology Goa

The Goa state of India is home to the National Institute of Technology Goa, usually referred to as NIT Goa or NITG. It was established in 2010 and is regarded as an Institute of National Importance. It is one of India’s 31 National Institutes of Technology. In 2010–2011, it accepted its first group of students.
The Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) established eleven new NITs during the 11th Five Year Plan, including the NITG.The central government granted 250 crore rupees to be used in the establishment of the institute. Academic activity at NIT Goa began in the 2010–11 academic year after the admission of the initial class of students. During its early years, NIT Goa was mentored by National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal.
It is a temporary campus and is situated in Farmagudi, Ponda, which is 29 kilometres southeast of Panaji, the capital of Goa. Goa is well connected to other regions of the nation via roads, railroads, and airlines. Currently, NIT Goa is temporarily housed and operating on the Goa Engineering College (GEC) Campus in the Goan town of Farmagudi.

The Institute offers graduate-level coursework in five different engineering departments: computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering. In its three engineering departments—computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and electrical and electronic engineering—the institute provides postgraduate courses and a Ph. D. The Institute also grants Ph.D.s with concentrations in Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Chemistry.

The Institute accepts 38 students into each branch of the B.Tech degree programme based on their performance in the Joint Entrance Examination JEE(Main) and the Direct Admission to Students Abroad (DASA) programme.
