National Institute of Technology Durgapur

Formerly known as Regional Engineering College, Durgapur, the National Institute of Technology Durgapur is a public technical university in the West Bengali city of Durgapur. Also, it is one of India’s first technological institutions, having been established in 1960. It is situated on a 187-acre (0.75 km2) campus. On the eastern side of the campus, facing Mahatma Gandhi Road is where you’ll find the main entrance. Further, the academic buildings for the institute, including the department buildings, laboratories and workshops, lecture halls, computer centers, and the central library, are situated in the eastern side of the site.

More than 1.7 lakh print volumes, including technical books, papers, standards, CDs, and previous editions of journals, are kept in a modern central library at the National Institute of Technology Durgapur. Additionally, the library has reading rooms with WiFi and air conditioning. The High Voltage Laboratory is across the street from this place. The library is a corporate member of the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), the American Center Library in Kolkata, the Current Science Association in Bangalore, and the Developing Library Network (DELNET). It offers a collection of several thousand digitized computer science books from Springer publishers.

Furthermore, engineering, science, architecture, and management-related programs are available at NIT Durgapur at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Also, the institute comprises 14 departments with around 4,000 students enrolled, approximately 224 faculty members, and. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) placed NIT Durgapur at number 34 among engineering schools in India in 2022 and at number 72 overall.
