Bihar Agricultural University

The Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, which opened its doors on August 5th, 2010, is a fundamental and strategic organization that supports more than 500 researchers and educators in their work to provide graduate and postgraduate education, conduct fundamental, strategic, applied, and adaptive research, ensure efficient technology transfer, and develop the capacity of farmers and extension workers. The university has 12 research stations located throughout 3 agro-ecological zones in Bihar, and 5 colleges (5 Agriculture and 1 Horticulture). Additionally, the University has 21 KVKSs operating in 20 of the 25 districts under its purview.

The Bihar Agricultural University was founded with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for state residents, particularly farmers, who make up more than two-thirds of the population. The university’s ultimate objective is to benefit society as a whole, and it plans to do this by providing world-class, need-based agricultural education, research, extension, and public service.

The university has over six campuses and institutions that offer entry to undergraduate degree programs in agriculture and horticulture. The master’s and doctoral degree programs are offered by agriculture faculties. The residence requirement is eight semesters for undergraduate programs, four for master’s programs, and six for doctoral programs.

The university has established partnerships with numerous reputable national and international institutions. It has close ties to several ICAR institutions, including the Directorate of Rice Research, the Directorate of Wheat Research, the Indian Institute of Pulse Research, the Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, the India Institute of Farming System Research, the Directorate of Maize Research, the Central Plantation Crop Research Institute, the Central Institute of Subtropical Horticulture, the National Dairy Research Institute, the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, and others.
