Gandhi Nagar’s Government College for Women in Jammu In response to the rising need for women’s education in Jammu, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir created a Constituent College of Cluster University of Jammu in September 1969. The college occupies an area of 186 Kanals. In 1974, the main building was dedicated. Prior to that, the College was housed in the Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, building of the Government Girls High School. Only humanities-related subjects were available at first. As a result of widespread demand, the College introduced science departments in 1980. A full-fledged home science department with contemporary labs was formed at the same time. Currently, the college offers teaching in the non-medical, home science, and medical disciplines.
Recognition of this educational institution as a “knowledge centre” at the national and international levels, supporting holistic development and a compassionate outlook to equip young women to face difficulties around the world.
