Pune, Maharashtra, India is home to the autonomous Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT). The institute was founded in 1983 and is operated by the Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust. It is associated with the Savitribai Phule Pune University. It is ISO 9001-2015 certified by BSI, India.
Bansilal Ramnath Agarwal Charitable Trust (BRACT) is in charge of running the VIT. The Bombay Trust Act of 1950 allowed for the creation of the Trust on June 16th, 1975. The Trust engages in social, religious, and educational endeavours. According to Indian mythology, “Vishwakarma” was a divine architect and engineer. BRACT has fostered educational institutions and businesses like Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Maritime Institute, Vishwakarma Global Business School, Vishwakarma Schools and Colleges, Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, and Vishwakarma Institute of Management.
The Trust participates in social, spiritual, and efforts aimed at education. Indian mythology describes “Vishwakarma” as a divine engineer and architect. Businesses and educational institutions like Vishwakarma Institute of Technology have benefited from BRACT.
The appointed chairman and director assist the managing trustee in running VIT, Pune. The director, with assistance from the heads of various departments, is responsible for overseeing the institute’s operations. Other important figures in this regard include the deans of the following departments: Administration, Academics, Finance, Research and Development, Examination, Quality Assurance, Industrial Relations, Technical Student Activities, Faculty Development, and Analytics. Other administrative officers oversee the administration.
The Institute offers a wide range of programmes, including 6 Ph.D., 8 post-graduate, and 8 undergraduate ones.
VIT provides courses in design, humanities, data sciences, artificial intelligence, and computer applications, with an emphasis on engineering. The Institute offers a wide range of academic programmes including B. Tech, M. Tech, Ph.D., MCA, and Undergraduate SEDA. To be eligible for admission to the M.Tech. programme, candidates must receive passing scores on the GATE or MHT-CET exams. The institute and Penn State University partnered in 2010 to host an engineering undergraduate student exchange programme.
