University of Burdwan

On June 11, 1999, the Burdwan University Executive Council decided to establish the University Institute of Technology (UIT), an engineering institute on the university campus that would be directly under the direction and authority of the University of Burdwan.

The institute’s administration takes serious attempts to set up numerous interviews for students to demonstrate their qualifications for work in both on- and off-campus settings. For a fee, the institution sets up training and soft skills for the students to improve their employability. Further, in 2011 and 2012, a significant number of students were placed through on- and off-campus drives thanks to the institute’s and students’ serious efforts. Companies including TCS, IBM, L&T, Infotech, Infosys, i-Flex, FCG, CMC, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra Satyam, Haldia Petrochemicals, Matix Fertilizer, Wipro Infotech, Pinnacle, Zycus, Indian Army, Indian Navy, etc. were contacted for on-campus and off-campus recruiting, just as in previous years.

By participating in a variety of extracurricular activities including debate, quizzes, essay writing, acting, music, etc., students are constantly encouraged to develop their personalities. Also, the enrolled students routinely compete in various technical competitions and win prizes, such as paper presentations and programming competitions. The yearly technical and cultural festival “WALTZ” is also organized by students. Moreover, Renewable Energy Club was founded with financial support from WEBREDA, the West Bengali government. The National Service Scheme (NSS) division runs efficiently. In order to conserve energy and raise awareness among all walkers, the institute constructed 14 nos. Solar PV Streets Lighting System(RA) in partnership with WEBREDA, the West Bengal government.
