National Institute of Technology Nagpur

A public technical university called Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur (VNIT) is situated in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in the heart of India.The institution was founded in 1960 and is one of 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) Nagpur in the nation. The National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research Act, 2007 (27 of 2007) of the Indian Parliament granted the institute the designation of Institute of National Importance along with the other NITs in 2007. The institute was formerly known as Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE), and it bears Sir M. Visvesvaraya’s name, a renowned engineer, planner, and statesman. The Institute offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees in engineering, technology, architecture, and science, and entry requirements include the JEE (Main), GATE, JAM, and NET, CSIR-UGC, etc.
The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport is 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) and Nagpur Railway Station is 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) away from the National Institute of Technology Nagpur campus, which is situated in the western region of the city next to Ambazari Lake. The Main Gate on South Ambazari Road, the Bajaj Nagar Gate, and the Yashwant Nagar Gate are the three main entrances to the 225 acres (91 hectares) campus. The campus has a lot of green area and is largely unaffected by the city’s pollution.

The institute offers a gymkhana as well as courts for cricket, football, badminton, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. On campus, there is also an NCC branch.

Undergraduate engineering programmes typically last four years, whereas architecture programmes last five years. Up to 798 new students can enrol as freshmen at the institute.

All of the fundamental scientific departments and all eight engineering departments, in addition to the architecture department, provide graduate and research programmes leading to the Master’s (M.Arch, M.Sc., and M.Tech.) and Ph.D. degrees. Each discipline offers graduate and research programmes with a variety of specialisation options. Aeronautical Engineering will shortly be available at the institute. The Master’s programme accepts up to 350 students a year.
