IIT Jammu

The Hon’ble Finance Minister announced the idea to build IIT Jammu together with four other IITs in Chhattisgarh, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala in the Union Budget 2014–15.

On August 6, 2016, the Indian Institute of Technology Jammu opened its doors and welcomed its first group of students to its campus in Paloura, Jammu. The founding of IIT Jammu was carried out initially with the guidance of IIT Delhi.

In 2018, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir donated 400 acres of lush green land in Jagti village, just outside of Jammu city, for the construction of IIT Jammu’s main campus. Phase 1A of the main campus, which spans 25 acres, is currently in use.

Phases 1B and 1C are being built quickly. The Jammu Tawi Railway Station and Jammu Airport are both 19 km and 17 km, respectively, from the Institute’s main campus, which is situated on National Highway 44.

PhD students are now housed on the Paloura campus. The Central Instrumentation centre (CIF or SAPTARSHI Labs), a top-notch research centre, is also housed there. Mutual respect, innovation, teamwork, and a zest for trying to find novel solutions to challenges are all encouraged by the culture.IIT Jammu’s procedures must represent the advancement of humanistic technology propelled by design concept. The key characteristics of the culture at IIT Jammu would be to offer a collaborative, creative work environment that would foster an attitude of respect for one another and self-motivation.
An educational institution’s biggest resource is its staff.

The people should be a reflection of the institution’s values and goals. They should possess qualities of a good citizen, like passion, openness, friendliness, curiosity, empathy, and ethics.

The university should include enough motivating elements for the pupils, such as a calm setting coupled with top-notch amenities and job chances.
