Government Medical College Srinagar

One of the first medical schools in Jammu & Kashmir (J & K) State and one of the oldest in North India is Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, which is currently in its 54th age at birth. It plays a key role in providing the J & K State with a significant share of the healthcare workforce. Since its foundation, it has aided in the production of numerous recognised and accomplished clinicians, not only in the Sub-Continent but also globally.

In addition to these institutions, the region also contains an ancillary medical training school where diploma programmes for B.Sc. nursing are offered. In addition to Chittranjan Mobile Hospital, the faculty of the Govt. Medical College also teaches in 22 departments of the college. All throughout the year, well-planned and executed lectures, practicals, demonstrations, and clinics are held. The wards of the linked college provide experience for students in the clinical terms.

Government Medical College Srinagar library is well-stocked with more than 18000 books. It owns approximately 14000 bound journals and subscribes to over 270 national and international journals. The Library features a computerised information management system called SLIM that enables quick tracing and retrieval of any publication in the collection.

Up to this point, GMC has graduated over 4000 doctors.This prestigious university has awarded post-graduate degrees to almost 1000 people. The GMC has produced physicians, surgeons, and medical technologists who have attained not only acclaim for their skill but also for their dedication and service.
