Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India is home to Marathwada University (BAMU), formerly known as Marathwada University. It bears the name of the Indian politician and jurist B. R. Ambedkar. On August 23, 1958, the university was formed. In countless ways, our university has aided the development of neighbouring communities and individuals.

The renaming of the university after B. R. Ambedkar was accepted in 1978 by the Maharashtra Chief Minister, the state assembly, and the university administration.The anti-Dalit pogrom resulted from the other community’s vehement opposition to this choice.14 January 1994 marked the “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University” is the new name of the university.

There are some old books in the university library that date all the way back to 1600. Through a Noida-based company, Knowledge Resource Centre has subscribed to the World E-book Library, giving the students access to over 300,000 e-books, including journals and other materials.
Boys and girls who are enrolled in the university live in different residence halls.
