Model Institute of Engineering and Technology Jammu

The Model Institute of Engineering and Technology Jammu became the first engineering institution in the private sector in J&K in 1996 after receiving AICTE clearance. However, after the J&K Government’s rules governing higher technical education were developed, the first batch of students was admitted in 1999. Since that time, Model Institute of Engineering and Technology Jammu has graduated 16 batches of engineering students and advanced considerably while upholding its original principles. It is the oldest educational organisation in Jammu and Kashmir and a leader in the field of for-profit education.

The Model Academy, the first private school in J&K, served as the foundation of the MIER group. Gen. J.J. Singh, H.E. Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and Former Chief of the Indian Army, Dr. A.S. Anand, Former Chief Justice of India, and Admiral Arun Prakash, Former Chief of the Naval Staff of India, are just a few of the notable alumni from the school.

The MIER group also runs the MIER College of Education, which was founded in 1981 and is the only institution of higher learning in J&K to receive the “Autonomous Status” designation from the University Grants Commission (UGC). The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) recently granted it re-accreditation and gave it a “A+” grade. The M.Ed, B.Ed, and B.Ed Special Education programmes are available there.

It provides the state’s first M.Ed., B.Ed., and B.Ed. Special Education course for students with mental retardation.

The MIER group has graduated more than 50,000 students over the course of eight decades, and today it serves over 3500 students from preschool through doctoral levels, meeting their educational requirements and goals.

The leadership group includes former vice chancellors of state universities and has a collective expertise of more than 350 years.
