Ramanujan College

Ramanujan College, The College upholds the essential values of dedication, hard work, and commitment as expressed in the motto of the University of Delhi—Nistha, Dhriti, Satyam—inspire by Srinivasa Aiyangar Ramanujan, one of the finest mathematicians in history.

The Ministry of Rehabilitation, Government of India, founded Ramanujan College, formerly known as Deshbandhu College (Evening), in 1958 in honour of Late Lala Deshbandhu Gupta, a patriot who had committed his life to the national freedom movement. The College has been maintained by the University of Delhi since 1972 and is entirely supported by the University Grants Commission (UGC). In 1994, the College welcomed female students. The Ramanujan College was renamed the Deshbandhu College (Evening) in 2010. Since 2012, the College has operated exclusively as a day college.

The college has been on a path of unheard-of expansion for the last ten years. The institution boldly anticipates new problems of the future with the launch of numerous new courses and a fast expanding infrastructure that tries to deliver the latest facilities.

One of the greatest mathematicians in history, Srinivasa Aiyangar Ramanujan, inspired the establishment of Ramanujan College. The University of Delhi’s motto, Nistha, Dhriti, and Satyam, captures the fundamental principles of commitment, hard effort, and dedication, and these principles are upheld by the College. The ideas of great educators like Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, and C.V. Raman are ingrained in the college’s mission statement.

The College aspires to create a society where inclusive and collaborative learning and research are ongoing processes that benefit humanity on a local, national, and international scale. The College is committed to upholding democracy and cultural traditions while also embracing fresh, creative approaches to balancing the need for social and cultural advancement, the development of an equal society, and the pursuit of academic freedom and achievement.
