National Institute of Technology (NIT)

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) , As one of the RECs for providing technical education in civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering, this Institute was founded in 1961. Undergraduate programmes in electronics engineering were launched in the academic year 1983–84, while programmes in computer engineering and production engineering were launched in the academic year 1988–89. A UG programme in chemical engineering was introduced in 1995–1996.

On the recommendation of the University Grants Commission, the Central Government declared the Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering & Technology (SVREC), Surat to be the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, with status of “Deemed University” as of December 4, 2002. ” The Institute currently offers six undergraduate programmes, nineteen graduate programmes, three M.Sc. five-year integrated programmes, including doctoral programmes, in each of the aforementioned fields.
The  National Institute of Technology (NIT), located in Surat, India, is regarded as a centre of excellence in technical education that fosters the adoption, development, diffusion, and transfer of cutting-edge technologies, hence improving quality for all stakeholders.
The Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, has the goal of becoming a top technical institution for training workers in accordance with technological demands both nationally and internationally.
